What You Ought To Realize About Melasma

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Melasma is usually a gray skin tinting on the body. Its most frequent victims are females, specifically currently pregnant females, that is usually the reason it is referred to as “mask of pregnancy”. It does not appear simply on the facial skin, this presents itself also on the other regions of the skin just like the forearms.

Just how do you decide if someone seems to have a Chloasma? A popular indication to indicate the existence of this skin discoloration is the presence of brown patches located on the face, temple and also the nose area. It can take some moment before these discolorations were produced.

The dark discoloration on the skin is a result of over production of melanin on the skin and at the same time, exposure to the sun. Another factor that may affect in the development of discoloration is the genetic factor. For pregnant women, internal hormonal change during pregnancy is the reason of the appearance of dark spots. It is also the result of external hormones like birth control pills. Melasma can be diagnosed by merely looking at the skin. Wood’s lamp can be used also to determine melanin difference between the two layers of the skin, the epidermis and the dermis. According to research, these dark spots on the skin tend to develops more on summer and appear lightly on the winter. It is a result of exposure to the sun.

For currently pregnant ladies, black spots on the body generally vanish immediately after a few months of having a baby. Some other techniques of dealing with these black spots are:

Laser Treatment- This kind of approach employs the Wood’s lamp to be able to find out if the brown patch is found on the 1st part of the skin or maybe in the particular internal layer of the skin. If the brown spot seems to be on the interior part of the skin, the dermis, Fraxel laser is applied for treatment method. Certainly not all black patches found on this specific part of the skin act in response to the laser treatment method. Some might not be taken out.

Topical Depigmenting agents- a substance that is frequently chosen for this is the hydroquinone. But, since the item was restricted for public use, many other herbal goods were uncovered to take the place of hydroquinone.

Skin Peeling- Peeling comes into two forms: facial peel using alpha hydroxyacids and chemical peel through the use of glycolic acid.

Utilizing Tretinoin- this particular technique is not really recommended for currently pregnant ladies. This requires improving the turn over of cellular material.

Pertaining to those who had facial dark spots mainly because of hereditary reasons, crucial reduction of this is reducing the vulnerability to the sun’s rays and usage of sun filter on the skin. Sun screens together with SPF 30 are advised for use. If possible, these people must talk over this kind of difficulty with their particular medical doctors so that birth control tablets and also many other hormonal therapies will be definitely avoided.

In a way, Melasma can be prevented. This can be done by limiting the exposure to the sun, though it is difficult to do it sometimes. Individuals with family history on this dark spots have a great tendency in developing this kind of spots. Extra care must then be given when going out into the sun. Wear hats, sun blocks and sun glasses for additional protection.

Fun History Of Using Nail Polish

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

Nail polish is a common beauty product nowadays in the 21st century. In fact, it has been invented in thousands of year ago. In the ancient times, women did not have a store to buy their nail polish. They made the nail polish from different types of natural ingredients. In addition, nail polish is privileged to royal families in many countries or it is used only for special events.

Red was the most popular color for nail polish long time ago in many countries. For example both Indian and ancient Roman people loved red. They paint red nail for their weddings. For Peru, people would draw eagles on their nails as a respect for important occasions.

Cosmetics were common in ancient Egypt as you can probably notice different kinds of beauty products like eyeliners, mascaras as well as nail polishes on pictures of ancient Egyptian. In the old days, only women from royal family were allowed to use red nail polish. Ordinary people who wished to use nail polish had to pick light colors. For royal family, nail polish was painted by technicians who made the polish more long lasting with Henna and blood.

Around 1045BC, Chinese people in the Zhou Dynasty started to concern nail beauty. They did not use nail polish at that time but long false nails. As these long false nails were made of gold, silver, gem stones and jewelries, they were mainly worn by the queens only. Chinese people developed their first nail polish from flowers, egg white and wax in Ming Dynasty and red was their most popular color.

In 1920, Michelle Menard of Revlon invented the first bottle of nail polish from the inspiration of car painting. The first generation of nail polish contained some toxic chemicals and therefore, product formula has been kept changing.

In 1980, Tinkerbell launched its first Bo-Po brush on peel off nail polish. You do not need chemical remover to take it off. The nail polish became the most popular nail polish at that time. There is still brush on peel off nail polish nowadays, but the most famous brand is Minx instead of Tinkerbell.

The technology of nail polish keeps improving from day to day. Now, you can even find the mood changing nail polish in the market. The color of this nail polish, after painted on your nails, changes from time to time according to your mood and body heat! What a wonderful product for women!

Collagen Cream, Scam Or Not?

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

I’ve read lots of reviews and as well had the ability to have a more detailed look at the many healthy skin care products that are available for sale. Probably the most popular creams is collagen cream which has a massive demand. But the dilemma is does this really work as advertised?

Unfortunately, the answer is a (blank) NO. There’s a massive business which has developed on the idea of collagen used as the crucial compound. But I believe these businesses would like to cover the simple fact about these kinds of creams which I am about to expose right here. So if you feel determined to search hard and discover the real truth then I would ask you to keep reading.

Collagen is an extremely essential protein which enables to maintain our skin firm, young and flexible. However when we get older, various hormonal and chemical alterations happen in our own bodies and the collagen production diminishes a whole lot.

Because of this, when we grow older, their skin sets out to lose its firmness and skin aging will begin to appear.

Today many companies state their products have collagen as an ingredient which could fill the need for this protein within our system. They assert that it will invert skin aging. But the simple truth is these companies are only using the term ‘Collagen’ to get maximum interest of the consumers. The complete technique is only to sell the creams and make income.

Collagen is made by big molecules which the epidermis can’t take in if it is used topically. So, whenever a company claims that their product is rich with Collagen it indicates you could apply the cream on your skin but the Collagen in it just won’t do any good to your skin. Even if the skin could mange to absorb the externally employed collagen, it would never be achievable to get it into the major collagen composition of the human body since it is too complex for taking in Collagen which was applied externally.

Although the good thing is there are several wonderful 100 % natural ingredients that can assist your whole body to induce the development of its own Collagen which often can actually minimize skin aging.

Functional Keratin is among the most reliable substances which can be found in the wool of the sheeps in New Zealand that may offer a big increase to the development of natural Collagen inside you.

So never get too confident with all these adverts of the corporations that make Collagen creams. Simply because the truth is – it isn’t achievable to get benefited by Collagen that is utilized topically. You should go for the organic solutions which really allow you to to eliminate wrinkles and fine lines by assisting the body to produce enough Collagen naturally.

Dr. Joshua Stevenson is expert about collagen face cream and has a blog deticated to the collagen creams subject.

The Right Timing For Skincare

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

“A time for birth and a time for death; a time for planting and a time for uprooting” is a famous quote from the Bible. Actually there is also a time for different skincare procedures with reference to the internal activities of human bodies. If you are able to catch the right time for your skincare procedures, you will receive maximum effect of your skincare products and treatments.

Under our skin, there are sebaceous glands which secrete sebum (oil). Though we may feel oily for this sebum secretion, it is the natural and powerful protection to our skin. The sebum is mostly secreted from 8am to 12 noon. That means our skin is the best protected during this period of time. Under this natural protection, our skin is most resistant to irritation and we can perform salon treatments like freckle and hair removal, acne treatment, lacer treatment and peeling. In addition, our skin also has the highest restoration power during this period of time. Therefore, any irritation caused by the salon treatments can recover at the highest speed.

Skin cells become a bit tired after the active sebum secretion in the morning. In addition, majority of blood flows to the digestive system after our lunch for food digestion. This decreases the blood flow to skin and therefore further increases the tiredness of our skin. At this point, it is important to revitalize our skin and the best method is to replenish moisture both internally and externally. We may have a water spray on our face and drink large amount of water. We should also avoid drinking coffee in the afternoon as coffee accelerates the moisture loss in our body.

After 4pm, all the foods are digested and huge amount of nutrients are absorbed by body. Activities of the brain, heart and lung increase. This increase in activities of main organs increases the oxygen content in blood. Skin’s absorbency increases from 4pm to 8pm and therefore, it is best to enjoy a spa during this time. You may also exercise to facilitate skin detoxification.

From 8pm to 11pm, blood pressure decreases and you may easily experience swelling (edema) and inflammation. You should avoid acne treatment and blackhead removal during this period of time. From 11pm to 5am, skin cells grow at their maximum speed and skin absorbency reaches its highest. You should apply skincare products with powerful nourishing and restoring functions. In order to catch this precious skin renewal moment, you should go to bed before 11pm.

Finally, from 4am to 7am, the secretion of adrenal cortex hormone increases significantly. Adrenal cortex hormone is a hormone that inhibits the formation of protein. During this period of time, skin cells are inactive and are not able to excrete all the metabolic water including moisture out. The accumulated moisture leads swelling in eyes, face and legs the next morning when you get up.

Facial Mask Review

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Estee Lauder Sparkling Clean Purifying Exfolitor Mask is designed for oily skin with heavy sebum secretion. To perform this purifying function thn, Kaolin Clay which can absorb excess sebum has been added the mask. To further the purifying action, it also contains two types of refining beads. These beads dislodge your facial pores when you massage you face. Also, it is quite natural compared to other purifying masks as it contains a lot of natural extracts like Lemongrass, Cucumber and Lotus Flower.

Clinique Pore Minimizer Refining Mask is another clay-based mask. It functions to minimize large facial pores. With salicylic acid, the pores are minimized by the effective control of sebum secretion. With mint as one of the ingredients, your face feels cool during the application. According to the instructions, it is suitable for all skin type, but I think people with oily skin will love this product. Also, the 20 minutes application can be shorted as the mask dried at the 10 minutes.

Lancome Pure Empreinte Masque contains minerals and seaweed extract that are good at regulating sebum secretion and soothing skin. After applying the mask, I feel the heat generated from it. My pores are enlarged temporarily to facilitate the dirt and excessive sebum removal. I feel my skin perfectly clean and refined afterwards. I find the result is even better if I exfoliate my skin before applying this mask.

Shisedo Aupres Balancing Refining Mask is developed by a famous Japanese Cosmetic brand Shisedo. The mask is invented for dry UV damaged skin remedy. Though the mask claims it is suitable for dry skin type, I feel a little bit dry after using this mask. Also, I feel discomfort when peeling off the mask from my face. It is better to apply toner and moisturizer immediately after the application.

Plante System Purifying Mask is a purifying mask from a European cosmetic brand. The mask is formulated with P.E.S. plant complex and extract of Serenoa. These special ingredients function to inhibit the secretion of male hormone and sebum secretion. It is effective to the extent that all the blackheads pop out from my nose. But I have to apply another blackhead peel off mask to remove them.

Clarins Pure and Radiant Mask is clinically proven for its purifying and refining functions. The plant extracts contained in the mask soothe and purify my skin. I feel comfortable and supple for my skin. It is suitable for people having delicate skin. The mask can be rinse off easily. I think better result can be achieved by apply heavily or generously on nose and cheeks.

4 Important Tests For Skincare Products

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

One of my favorite shopping items is skincare products. I love to try new products but sometimes I find them not really effective. I am quite often disappointed by the expensive products and their exaggerated descriptions. Other than feeling the products with my skin, I have discovered ways to test the quality of my skincare products. This helps me decide if I need to switch from one brand to another or stick to the same brand. I share with you 4 different simple tests. They are easily but effective in testing the quality of skincare products.

Toner is the first skincare product to apply according to proper skincare procedures after facial cleansing. From my experience, I feel itchy or stinging for some toners. The itch or sting is caused by the inappropriate PH value of the toners. Our skin’s natural PH value is PH5.5. Toners with PH5.5 to PH7 (neutral) are considered to be mild and less irritating to skin. Test the PH of your toner is extremely easy. You may get a pack of PH paper from drug stores. Dip the PH paper with some toner and wait for several seconds. Determine the PH value with reference to the color chart.

After applying toner, I usually apply a thin layer of essence to my face. These small bottles of essence are usually expensive and therefore, I expect significant effect from them. The most important attribute for effective essence is its absorbency. If it is able to penetrate deeper into my skin, the effect is better. To test if your essence can be easily absorbed by your skin, you just need some cotton pads. Piling up the cotton pads into a small stack and add a drop of essence to the stack. Wait for a while and see if your essence is able to pass through more than 3 layers of cotton pads. If yes, the essence can be considered as easily absorbed by skin.

Applying moisturizer is the final step of a simple skincare procedure. Moisture is important for keeping your skin healthy. Sometimes, I do not feel my skin moisturized but nourished. This test is the perfect test to find out if your moisturizer is nourishing or really moisturizing. Fill a glass with some water. Add a drop or a pea size of moisturizer into the water. Wait for a while. Look into the water and see whether your moisturizer sinks or float. Floating means the moisturizer is rich in oily components while sinking mean the moisturizer is rich in moisture components. Sinking one is always preferred to the floating one.

Other than toner, essence and moisturizer, sunscreen is the most often used skincare product for me. Applying suncare product is extremely important as it helps anti-aging. After applying suncare products, you may feel that your facial pores are unable to breathe. That is true and normal because most of them are quite oily. It is important to look for those that are less oily and yet able to protect you against UV light. To test this, you may apply some sunscreen on the back of your hand. After 3-5 minutes, press an oil blotting paper against it. The suncare product is too oily if there is a lot of oil absorbed.

Advertisements for skincare products are often exaggerated. These four tests are extremely yet they are important as you know how good your skincare product is. Products cannot pass the above four tests are more likely to cause skin problem like acne, dryness and redness.

Want Natural Beautiful Skin- Here’s The Secret

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Want to know the best way to get natural beautiful skin? The key is treating your skin gently. And it’s easy to be gentle when you know what to do as well as what to avoid.

Natural healthy skin care is different from one season to the next. In winter, the weather is harder on skin than the weather in the summer, but better in a few other ways. Learn to take good care of your skin in winter and summer and with fewer extremes in weather, the rest of the year is easy.

In summer one of the main issues is the sun. Applying lots of sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun’s damaging rays is the best way to take care of your skin. Be sure to do this any time you will be out in the sun for more than a few minutes.

If you have excessive exposure to the sun, without protection, you will burn. The lighter your complexion the worse it is.

Sunburn causes great damage to the skin. Your skin gets red, may blister and then peel several days later. When this happens you are actually losing a layer of your skin and that is not a good thing. The worst result can be skin cancer. But if you escape this, you aren’t off the hook. It’s a fact that long term exposure to the sun results in your skin aging prematurely.

It’s great to look tanned, but you don’t have to bake in the sun to get the look. Today’s tanning agents look natural, so why not choose one of these products instead?

In winter you are faced with a completely different set of problems. Wind, cold, and excessive dryness caused by furnace heated air team up to draw the moisture out of the skin.

Dry skin is irritated skin and needs to be properly taken care of. And that’s where problems occur. Using a rich moisturizing product is key, even for those with oily skin. There are just so many healthy skin care products out there. How do you choose the right one?

There are a few basic guidelines to use. Keep in mind that you are aiming to be gentle to your skin.

1. For dry or sensitive skin, avoid products containing a fragrance as they may irritate some skin types.

2. Do not use no-name skin care products. They are made with cheap ingredients, including harsh chemical compounds and that’s no way to be gentle to your skin.

3. Stick to name brand products. You can be sure of getting quality products because their reputation is on the line.

4. Only use a moisturizer on your face that is specifically recommended for use on facial skin, instead of an all-purpose lotion.

5. Use lotions containing mineral oil, petrolatum, glycerin and dimethicone. When combined, these ingredients keep your skin hydrated and strengthen the skin’s natural moisture barrier.

6. Use natural healthy skin products. These are made using ingredients found in natural sources, so are much gentler on the skin.

7. Try to get in the routine of cleaning out your make-up bag at the beginning of each season. The best before date for some products is shorter than you might think. Don’t let your efforts to treat your skin gently be for nothing because you are using old cosmetics.

You too can have natural beautiful skin. Being gentle to your skin will go a long way towards making it happen.

Taking care of your skin involves more than just a daily skin care routine. Visit www.skin-care-naturally.com/ to find out how you too can have natural beautiful skin.

Here’s How To Hide Your Blemishes

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

The primary purpose of concealers like benefit eye concealer is to create an illusion. Makeup can make you look as though you have larger eyes, a smaller nose, smoother lips, and flawless skin. But when makeup is applied improperly it loses its effectiveness, and it can actually make your pores look huge, draw attention to scars, and magnify wrinkles. With just three easy steps you can uncover the real power that makeup has to conceal skin damaged by acne.

When you work with makeup, consider yourself an artist and your skin your canvas. Before you begin your artistry, your first step is to ensure that your canvas is clean and moisturized. One trick of the trade used to make makeup as smooth as possible is using a moisturizing mist of rosewater and vitamin E oil.

Fill a two ounce aerosol bottle with rosewater and add five to ten drops of vitamin E oil. Recap the bottle, shake for thirty seconds so that the vitamin E oil is thoroughly diluted and it is ready to go. Everything that you need may be purchased for less than $10 at any local drug store.

Makeup foundation is called “foundation” for one critical reason; it is the base upon which you will build your work of art. Incorrectly applying your foundation will make your makeup look askew or mishandled, regardless of how well you employ your makeup. The second step is making your foundation must match your skin tone and texture, while also concealing any damage to your skin.

There are matte foundations that provide full coverage. You should choose this type of foundation if you tend to “cake on” makeup to conceal blemishes. Using a full coverage product lets you apply one thin layer of makeup but cover all your skin imperfections.

After having experienced a complete day of blemish concealment, you must take the makeup completely off. A simple method of being certain that your skin is completely clean and that the makeup is gone is a feeling of your skin breathing once again.

You can use a simple square of cotton with witch hazel to remove your makeup without over-stripping your skin. First, saturate the cotton with witch hazel and gently rub it over your entire face. When the cotton square is no longer collecting makeup, you are done. This type of cleansing also helps prevent future skin blemishes.

For more info on beautifying your appearance, be sure to check out: benefit mascara or benefit gloss.
